In this post, part 4 from the 2018 Severn Bridge Fall Fair, there are more photos of Gravenhurst Junior Firefighters, smiling faces with Mabel Moon’s face paint, a singer on stage, games, vendors and information display tents – and while all that was going on it was nice to see so many families, friends and siblings simply enjoying the sunny day together in Muskoka.

If you haven’t seen the previous post please check it out to hear all about the firefighter activity put on by the Gravenhurst Fire Department. They did an amazing job! In the photos above a little firefighter is seen hard at work putting out fires and then collecting his awards. He looks pretty innocent and harmless right? At least I thought so. But, when the little guy went through the challenge and reached the stage where he had that fire hose in his hands, he started thinking about other career options. After all, he was now armed with a water canon, and there was a crowd to aim at, including one individual conspicuously loaded up with cameras. That would be me. And so for a brief moment the little munchkin joined the riot police and hosed everyone within range. Again, that would be me. Boy he got me real good too! I spent the rest of the morning looking like I’d suffered a significant “accident”, and he was awarded a blue ribbon for it. Well played little firefighter. 🙂
After a thorough drenching from the Junior Riot Police Officer I decided to dry out myself, and cameras, in a more safe location: The face painting tent of Mabel Moon! In the above photos a boy watches Mabel Moon paint faces as he waits in line for his turn. Photo taken at 11:11AM. In the next shot he appears smiling with his completed face paint. Photo taken at 11:16AM! Mabel Moon was magical. There was always a long line-up for colourful face painting and she worked with great speed to keep it moving nicely. At the end of the fair I had a chance to talk with Mabel Moon. She wasn’t sure how many faces she painted in total at the fair but it had to have been well over 100!
While the boy above had his face painted I got into an interesting conversation with the person who took him and another four kids to the fair. He was also a photographer, enjoyed photographing sports, so he explained a little about his experience and shared some tips too. Mable Moon worked extremely fast though so our conversation was cut far too short. All his kids suddenly appeared with painted faces, ready for a photo. I was astonished at how I didn’t have to say anything to arrange the group. All the kids simply bunched up and fit together perfectly, like very experienced pros at doing quick posed group photos. It really was nice to meet the family.
During the morning a young singer got up on stage with his guitar and put on a show. Sorry I didn’t get your contact info. I have a few more photos like the ones seen above so if you’d like to have them please let me know and I’ll be glad to pass them on to you.
One of the things I love seeing are nice moments between friends, siblings and families. The relaxed country fair atmosphere seems to naturally bring that out and I experienced and saw a lot of it at the Severn Bridge Fall Fair!
These photographs were created for Severn Bridge Fall Fair organizers and visitors to enjoy, share and use free of charge. This wasn’t a paid shoot but an entirely voluntary effort to create some nice photos for you.
