I’ve always specialized in painting and photographing child candid portraits, sports and activities. That is the work I study closely, want to constantly improve in, practice and take seriously. But, I love the outdoors, camping, canoeing, fishing and nature too. Since moving to a quiet rural part of Muskoka, surrounded by thousands of acres of wilderness, I am constantly treated to opportunities to see and photograph interesting things outdoors all around me. Cameras go with me everywhere, even if I’m just walking down the driveway to check the mailbox, so the nature photography keeps on growing.
I wanted to keep my “serious” professional work and “just for fun” personal work separate. The Shooting For The Starts site was created to be specially dedicated to candid portraits, sports, events and activities in Gravenhurst, Bracebridge and elsewhere in Muskoka. Meanwhile I quietly put all my Muskoka nature, wildlife and landscape oriented photography on another site – Hidden Eden. I even have a third site for a children’s book project in the works but more on that another time.
Over the years the Hidden Eden photography has grown quite a following. I still don’t have aspirations of becoming a professional wildlife, nature or landscape painter or photographer but that following and its feedback motivates me to keep looking, shooting and sharing the interesting sights I find around my home and on my travels in Muskoka. I won’t often post nature photos here on Shooting For The Stars but on occasion it may make sense to use a photo from Hidden Eden – and so this explains why sometimes you might see the Hidden Eden watermark on an occasional photo here.
If you happen to enjoy nature, outdoors, wildlife and landscape photography and art you are welcome to check out the Hidden Eden site. To keep up with new nature posts as they happen on Hidden Eden please use the subscribe page here on Shooting For The Stars and check the box for “Nature” as you make your topic selections.
