The 54 photos on this page cover one of the youngest kids groups in the mud stage and some at the hay bales. I had a feeling the mud obstacle would be a good location for capturing a lot of different expressions and strategies for getting through it. It was most entertaining to watch that section of the race so I stayed there for a long time and got a good number of photos around that area (monkey bars, mud and hay bales). More will come in the next post.
When kids raced from the monkey bars, rounded an old shed and then first set eyes on the mud obstacle, their reactions were priceless. Some were excited and thrilled to see all that mess, some were bewildered and others were mortified. The sequence above shows a little guy who took one look at that mud and then without any hesitation marched confidently right through the middle of it. What a great little racer!
Other racers had a different approach for dealing with the mud obstacle. Some simply took a wide berth to avoid it completely. Other clever racers invented their own strategy for keeping out of the mud by making the adjacent fence part of their obstacle course!
Their faces say it all: “I can’t believe I’m allowed to do this! This is the best day ever!”
These faces say it all too: “I can’t believe I’m expected to do this! What were those grownups thinking!?”
If you were a participant at the event please share this page and tell your friends about it so they can find their Muskoka Adventure Challenge photos too.
The thumbnail grid below repeats all the same photographs seen in the gallery section on the page, and is included here for those needing an alternate way to download and save their photos.
